At the Lazy Gourmet, our team is the heart of everything we do. This week, we are excited to introduce you to Jennifer Fryer, our resident wedding and events expert!
Meet the Team
Jennifer Fryer
Manager, Corporate Sales & Wedding Specialist
Describe your role at the Lazy Gourmet.
I manage the corporate sales department and am the in-house wedding planning and catering specialist.
How long have you been with the Lazy Gourmet?
I just celebrated my 6 years this past week.
What are the different types of roles you have had with the company?
I started as seasonal help one Christmas season and was only supposed to be there for a couple of weeks packaging cookies and gift baskets. I then moved into dispatch shortly after, executing the delivery of orders and packing gigs/events. Less than a year, later I moved into Corporate Sales. Three years ago (while still running the corporate department), I restructured our sandwich department for a smoother operation. Two years ago, I started to manage our wedding catering and event planning and currently still take care of all our LG weddings and other corporate events.
What is your background?
I have worked in the food industry for the past 12 years serving and assisting at weddings. I also studied food and nutrition and have the designation for Holistic Nutritionist specializing in Sports and Fitness and Nutritional Consulting.
Describe a “typical” day for you at LG.
Everyday is different – thats why I love it to much! I start my day by making my daily list of quotes, emails and follow ups that need to be accomplished and set a timeline for the day. I usually have a meeting or two – internal meetings about production and execution or off site meetings for site checks for events and for prospecting.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
My favourite thing about my job is that we are an open office – we all bounce ideas and stories off of each other and its a very unique form of support that I had never experienced before The Lazy Gourmet.
What would your co-workers say about you?
“She’s always here”
What is your favourite event you have ever worked on?
I did a Brazilian and Peruvian Wedding and from the beginning it was my favourite – the bride and groom were amazing, the decor, the food, the ambiance, their family and friends at the wedding. It didn’t even feel like working. I was able to be very creative and executed an event to a level that I never had before.
What do you think makes LG different from other catering or event planning companies?
I think it is our “custom” attitude. I love that we are able to be creative and work together as a team to create menus and events that are tailored specifically to our clients vision instead of just giving them option 1, 2 or 3 for them to choose from.
What is something nobody knows about you?
Although I thrive living “the city life” I actually grew up on a farm in Ontario where we raised our own meat and grew our own vegetables, my love for food and where it comes from started there.
