The Lazy Gourmet’s Kevin Mazzone Named To Business In Vancouver’s Forty Under 40 For 2017

Vancouver, B.C., September 19, 2017 – When a young and driven 21-year-old Kevin Mazzone started his career with The Lazy Gourmet 10 years ago, owner and hospitality pioneer Susan Mendelson already saw the potential in his natural ability to lead and problem solve. Fast-forward to 2017, and Mazzone, now a partner at The Lazy Gourmet, was recently recognized as one of Business in Vancouver’s prestigious Forty Under 40.

The annual Business in Vancouver Forty Under 40 Awards salute B.C.’s best and brightest business talent, singling out the achievements of young entrepreneurs, executives and professionals. Winners, born after 1977, are to have demonstrated excellence in business, judgment, leadership and community contribution.

“I am incredibly proud of Kevin. This award is so well deserved and I am so excited for him,” explains Mendelson. “As a past recipient, I see the same entrepreneurial spirit in Kevin that I had in myself. The catering industry is highly competitive, especially right now. Ever since Kevin became general manager about seven years ago, he has been able to grow The Lazy Gourmet by large margins. This award is just a testament to his successes. In addition, it truly is his giving heart and capability to build great rapport with our clients, guests, and staff that are his greatest assets. We are very lucky to have him.”

In addition to The Lazy Gourmet, Mazzone is known as a community leader. He has actively engaged The Lazy Gourmet to be community stewards by supporting local initiatives such as Loving Spoonful, LOUD Foundation, QMUNITY, CAMP OUT, and Convenant House. He has also played a prominent role in the launch of several fundraisers, including: Passions Gala benefiting Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation, where he contributed to raising more than $500,000 over a five year period; the inaugural Vancouver fundraiser for the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research; and now for the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada’s most prestigious event Night of Wonders, a new gala which has shown astounding growth since its inception just four years ago. As co-chair of Night of Wonders, Mazzone is expecting to surpass $500,000 in just one night for Children’s Wish.

“To say we are proud to have Kevin’s leadership is an understatement. He gives so generously of his time, his ideas, his connections and his expertise. I am so confident that with his commitment to Children’s Wish, our Night of Wonders gala in March 2018 will be the most exquisite event yet,” says Jennifer Petersen, Provincial Director of the BC & Yukon Chapter of Children’s Wish.

Mazzone will be celebrated amongst his peers at Business in Vancouver’s Forty Under 40 Awards gala dinner on January 23, 2018 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, 1055 Canada Place. For more information about the awards, please visit www.biv.com.
